Bugs, Donations and Website
I know, I haven’t been able to touch the code too much of late and there are a few bugs piling up that need to be looked at. Well, it’s not entirely true that I haven’t touched code, I did do some bug hunting but only fixed one. The others are remaining elusive. So I ask that everyone please be patient with me and with other staff. Things are getting done, but just might take that little bit longer to do.
On another note, the quarterly hosting for Dark Isles is now due ($55). Funding wise, we’re almost half way there at the moment, so if anyone can help out (even $5) that would be greatly appreciated. Whilst I do cover any short fall (last month we were about $40 short) as a single Mum and student, I must admit to it getting rather difficult. If you’re interested, have a look here: Donations.
What I really need to do is work on the website, but I can’t really do that until my current web-design job is done. But I am thinking about it a lot. I have a lot of ideas in my head. I also am considering switching from Movable Type to WordPress. Movable Type recently updated their design and template system and it is a bit of a nightmare to work with and design for. Almost impossible. I’ve been trialling WordPress with this blog of mine and finding it much easier to use and customise to a style.
Grades
Got my provisional grades, which I expect to go final in the next few days:
Computer Communications: A+
Object-Oriented Program Design: A
Internet Applications: A+
The A is the one I least expected, as I did really badly in one of the tests which was worth 35%. Overall, I think it is really, really good. And combined with the first half of the year, gives me 3 A+s, 1 A, 1 A-.
Hunting
You can now skin a lot more animals. Rats, dogs, cats, wolves, rabets, rabbits, foxes, badgers, bears, deer etc.
Some produce skins, some produce pelts. Should be obvious which does which. The echoes have been tidied up a bit too as with the descriptions of the carcasses they produce.
Shops
A big change to shops and how they load stock and the owner is charged for it:
- Shop owners are no longer charged a weekly amount for shop stock as a part of their rent
- Shop owners can set (via talking to staff) how much of a particular item they want kept in stock
- Shops in Seahaven are restocked twice daily (every 12 hours).
- When a shop is restocked, the owner is charged whole sale rates, and is charged from the coin in their store room.
- If there is not enough coin in the storeroom, the shop is not restocked.
This should make it a lot easier for business owners to make money from their shop as they are only charged for what they sell. It is also MUCH more profitable to make your own stuff and put it in your storeroom for sale.
You can also set your items to sell for a greater price, ie, 150% of base value to make a bigger profit, but be careful, the competition might under-cut you!
Archive
I’ve imported all my old posts from my Luna blog over here, so there is a bit of history now that can be looked through. I’ll continue to post about updates and code and the mud here, but there will also be a little bit about my personal life as well.
So starting with code updates:
- Craft lists can now be refined with keywords (finally, been wanting to do this one for ages)
Okay, my code list is small. Predominantly due to taking on a webdesign contract that I really want to impress with, so all my time and energy is going into that.
On a non-coding aspect, businesses have been put up for sale. If you have the coin spare, I’d recommend bidding on one. Could end up being quite profitable.
University
I’m a student of Waikato University. Second time around I’m doing much better. Averaging A+’s, and I’m really happy to be able to brag about that fact, especially due to personal circumstances which make maintaining that A+ average all the harder.
More or less decided on my course choice for next year. After a chat with the Dean, going to continue on with the software development side of things. And the good news is, I could finish my degree within the next year and honours within 2 years. If I go full time. Though more than a little nervous about doing that with caring for my Mum, and looking after the babe.
Hello World!
That title seems to be a staple for any first post.
I’ve been lazy. Not my design, but it did take a bit of work to get it working with Word Press. Yes.. Word Press, haven’t used it before so it’ll be interesting to see how it works out. It looks a lot easier to design for than movable type. Which is a good thing. So hopefully soon you’ll something a bit more ‘me’ here, but for now, the butterfly is pretty and the look still suits me.
